Helping our gala receive the recognition that it deserves. Small, Black-owned businesses face a critical disadvantage, with daunting challenges including limited access to capital and funding. The support available to Black-owned companies is far from adequate. These businesses often confront significant barriers in the United States, particularly in securing the necessary financing and overcoming systemic biases that hinder their growth. The racial wealth gap plays a crucial role, leading to lower loan approval rates and higher interest rates for Black entrepreneurs compared to their white peers. Additionally, a lack of access to mentorship, essential resources, and strong support networks further complicates their journey. We must recognize these injustices and work towards providing equitable opportunities for Black-owned businesses, empowering them to thrive and contribute to our economy.…
